Description
Garland Variations is a refined tatting pattern featuring a delicate garland made of five unique snowflakes
Moreover, each snowflake can be used separately — for example, as a doily, coaster, or decorative lace element.
Therefore, you are not just getting one design, but a versatile collection of motifs with multiple creative possibilities.
In addition, if you prefer, you can also purchase each snowflake pattern separately.
The tutorial includes written instructions in English, a detailed graphic diagram, and step-by-step process photos.
Furthermore, there are special graphic pages indicating the number of double stitches — especially helpful for those who prefer a more visual approach.
The pattern consists of 20 pages and has a file size of approximately 6.90 MB.
Therefore, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or any compatible PDF software to open it.
Snowflake garland tatting pattern details
This pattern is designed for two shuttles; however, at certain stages, I use a netting needle or an embroidery needle as a shuttle.
In particular, this method allows for cleaner and more precise joins when working with long twisted picots.
As a result, the lace looks more refined and balanced.
Additionally, the PDF file includes links to helpful video tutorials for better understanding.
The level is intermediate, so you should already be comfortable with the following techniques:
ring, chain, long picot, twisted picot, and join picot.
What makes this design special?
This garland was inspired by the beauty and depth of Beethoven’s 32nd sonata .
Therefore, each snowflake feels like a variation in a musical composition — similar in structure, yet unique in character.
You can read the full story behind this design on my blog:

Materials and finished size
I used white cotton thread YarnArt Canarias No. 50 (20 grams, length 203 meters).
As a result, the finished snowflakes measure approximately:
15 cm (5.5 inches)
13.5 cm (5.25 inches)
12.5 cm (5 inches)
10.5 cm (4 inches)
8 cm (3.5 inches)
Therefore, the garland creates a beautiful visual rhythm, gradually decreasing in size.
