🌺 What makes this Tatting pattern brooсh Karen special?
First of all, this brooch continues my heartfelt “Gratitude” collection.
I named it in honor of all the amazing women named Karen — especially one beautiful soul from Cazenovia with a heart full of kindness 💗.
Secondly, you can create two versions of the brooch: one with beads, and one without. Of course, you’re free to mix both styles or add your own flair. This flexibility allows you to personalize the piece completely.
Thirdly, the design includes a unique new tatting element: a captivating mix of spiral arcs, cleverly intertwined layers, and an unconventional row-joining technique that will add elegance and depth to your lacework 🧵.
🧶 Materials, tools, and finished brooch size
I used polyester thread “Atlas” No. 50 in three charming shades of purple 💜.
In addition, the brooch features tiny purple beads (1 mm) and sparkling crystal glass beads (3 mm) for a luxurious touch.
The finished brooch measures approximately 10 cm (about 4 inches) in diameter.
Moreover, to create this beauty, you’ll need:
-
A very thin crochet hook that fits the bead holes (or thin wire as an alternative),
-
A washable fabric marker,
-
A needle threader for comfort,
-
And a lighter to gently seal thread ends. 🔥
