Hello everyone! Today I found an interesting article about collars on Wikipedia. And I want to share with you for sure! So:

In clothing, a collar is the part of a shirt, dress, coat or blouse that fastens around or frames the neck.
A collar may be permanently attaced to the main body of the garment (e.g. by stitching) or detachable. Oh, I love detachable collars! Because by changing the collars, you can get several different outfits from one dress!

Hello everyone!

I try very hard to create a new project every week, do you remember? And now I am very interested in the possibility of combining long picot. Because, this is extremely exciting, believe me!

I plan to create a small collection of patterns using long picots. So, I wrote in a previous post about the first pattern in this series. I called this napkin “Mandala.”

In the next model, I combined picot of different lengths. It turned out interesting. This pattern is not for beginner tatters, of course. But we must always evolve, right? I simply have to try new tricks, new methods. Because I feel how each new knowledge increases my self-esteem. Yes, don’t be surprised. I am also sure that the long picot in the new doily creates lightness and airiness. You know that these properties are especially appreciated in lace. Do you agree with me?

How to make a personalized tatting shuttle?

Hello everyone! My granddaughter graduated from second grade (all the marks are on top, of course!). After such a busy year, the child should rest, right? And now my Maria is relaxing about sea with her parents. Therefore, I can devote more time to my tatting.

I admit, I like to use shuttles the most. I thought that there are many beginner tattoos and masters of this art who also love to use shuttles. And yes, I consider tatting art, do you agree? Therefore, I decided to create unusual shuttles. Let it be “lace for lace.”

So I thought, creating my first collection of shuttles.

These were shuttles with flowers using the tatting technique. There are 154 knots in each flower! To weave these mini pieces, I used the thin embroidery threads. This is part of my stock! I’m not a threadsholik ( ha-ha-ha! ), I just love different colors!

But how to make a personalized tatting shuttle? For this, initials are needed. Many attempts, a few torn threads, and as a result, a collection of personalized shuttles is ready, cheers!

Tatting in resin

Tatting in resin. What is it? Perhaps I do not know the terminology very well. But the essence of the process is very accurately conveyed by these words: tatting lace frozen in resin.

Of course, fans of tatting for sure know the history of this beautiful kind of needlework. Some historians believe that the tatting technique originated in eastern countries in the 14th century! So over the years, tatting has undergone many changes and improvements. I already wrote about this in my blog. Nowadays, the art of tatting gets a new life. And this is very good! Do you agree with me?

Unfortunately, often we see antique tatting items in a deplorable state. So tatting is made of thread. The threads were not always of very high quality, I think. Alas, the threads are not very durable material. And the threads require careful care. But how to keep lace for long, long time in perfect condition? I decided to combine the old tatting technique with modern synthetic material – epoxy resin.

Oh, I had to do a lot of experiments! I messed up 1/2 liter of resin! I threw out more than 30 fragments of lace! If you are interested in how I achieved acceptable results, please write in the comments. I will make a series of articles on the topic of “tatting in resin” and share my experience without fail. The main difficulty when working with lace and resin is to achieve transparency of the resin and make very small pieces of lace. If we use big lace pieces, we need big molds. Therefore, the finished product will be bulky. Is not it? I made some patterns for little keychains. For example, “Rose Garden Alphabet.” Each letter is no larger than 1 inch.
